Features:
The park which includes approximately
165 acres of beach, is known for its large summer surf. Facilities include
2,500 parking spaces, two miles of bicycle lanes, fire rings, restrooms,
cold water showers, and snack bars. Lifeguard service is provided May
through September. Adjacent to the Santa Ana River mouth a natural
preserve has been established to protect the nesting habi tat of the
endangered Least Tern. OCTD #1 and #35.
Wide, golden sand beaches, great surfing opportunities, salt water sport fishing, birding (Bolsa Chica State Beach has a wide sandy beach to the south and a stunning wetland ecological reserve to the north) clamming, volleyball, cook outs, bicycling, roller blading, skating, jogging and wide open spaces.
Other Opportunities:
Bolsa Chica State Beach is
within urban settings, close to shopping, movie theaters, restaurants,
etc. Fast food vendors are open during summer hours and as well as skate
rentals and other beach equipment.
Yearly participation in California Coastal Clean-up Day. In summer,
regularly scheduled campfire programs. Grunion runs throughout the season.
Other interpretive events may be scheduled.
