Imre Gyongyossy & Barna Kabay, Hungary,1984Many films are rarely able to capture the very essence of faith. Often, the issue is clouded by sentimental notions and faith is made to look like a watery, ineffectual stubbornness. However, "The Revolt of Job",(Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Film), is an experience that no viewer is likely to forget. Set in a Hungarian village in 1943, the film tells the story of an elderly Jewish couple, Job and Rosa, who adopt a Catholic boy in an effort to pass on their wealth and knowledge before Nazi oppression consumes Hungary. Both humor and social observation are marinated with warmth and honest sentiments as this wild child is tamed through the understanding and patience of his adoptive parents.(98 minutes)
