

Claude Chabrol,France 1995The fate of a bourgeois family, the Lelievres,is sealed with the hiring of a new maid Sophie. Unbeknownst to them, she is an illiterate with a sinister past. She finds a mutual conspirator in Jeanne, the town's postal clerk. Together' they march the unsuspecting Lelievres towards a malignant class retrbution in "La Ceremonie", a French metaphor for the walk to the guillotine.
