

Learn the basics of working with dyes on silk the very first class meeting by creating a colorful silk painting to take home. You'll learn transparent color mixing, dye chemistry, studio considerations, and how to achieve color permanency on a luminous silk canvas. Session II works with larger and more detailed pieces of silk. Session III explores silk painting as an artform. Materials: wood stretcher bars to make 2 frames 18 x 24" each; masking tape (1" wide); 1 large * 1 med. white, synthetic watercolor brushes; sketching paper; #2 drawing pencil; black permanent marker "Sharpie" fine point; foam paintbrush, 2" wide.
