Good Time Net

News
We just finished the site map for the Good Time Net. Take a peek and you'll see this isn't just a hole-in-the-wall website.

Construction Status

Behind all these web pages is a database storing all the recreational events and destinations. It automatically generates the web page for each recreational item, as well as the crossindexes so you can find what you're looking for instantly. Developing all the software to do that was a big job, but that is now behind us.

We've also entered all the info from the recreation magazine from each of the county's 29 cities that publish a recreation magazine, and continue to update that at least as often as the paper magazines are released. This includes all kinds of inexpensive classes for everyone from preschoolers to seniors, as well as trips, games, fairs, etc. and includes the following cities:

  • Anaheim
  • Brea
  • Buena Park
  • Costa Mesa
  • Cypress
  • Dana Point
  • Fountain Valley
  • Fullerton
  • Garden Grove
  • Huntington Beach
  • Irvine
  • La Habra
  • La Palma
  • Laguna Beach
  • Laguna Hills
  • Laguna Niguel
  • Los Alamitos
  • Mission Viejo
  • Newport Beach
  • Orange
  • Placentia
  • San Clemente
  • San Juan Capistrano
  • Santa Ana
  • Seal Beach
  • Stanton
  • Tustin
  • Westminster
  • Yorba Linda

We've also added information from the County's Harbors Beaches and Parks Department. You won't believe how many parks and trails are tucked away right under our noses. For families looking for a good time on a budget, they are one of the best kept secrets in the county.

You'll also find the Orange Coast District of the California State Park system on the Good Time Net. That's all the state parks along the coast from Bolsa Chica to Doheny to San Onofre - for people who surf more than just the Net. We've also added information from the Trabuco Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest. Did you know that 1/10 th of the County is mountains and trails without hardly a ZIP code?

Now we're focusing on entering the recreation calendars of non-profit organizations and membership organizations that will get you into everything from archery to yoga. We expect there are well over 1,000 of these organizations in Orange County.

We also have an initiative to describe in detail all of the county's beaches, with maps showing good parking spots, hidden access points, nearby amenities, etc.

Another initiative focuses on interpretive trails, those trails with numbered signs and a trail guide telling you what to see at each numbered stop. We're developing online trail guides with lots more information than the government can afford to print.

OK, there is a lot to do. Want to help?
