How to Use the Good Time Net Tips Regarding:

Introduction

As we add new features, we will update these instructions. For now, there are only a few simple ways to use the Good Time Net. The Good Time Net is composed of:

  1. Calendared events such as festivals, park ranger programs, weekly woodcarving classes, etc.
  2. Destinations such as museums, parks, trails, zoos, etc.
  3. Lists by categories such as 'Arts and Crafts' or 'Woodcarving' that list matching events and destinations alphabetically.
  4. Lists of organizations such as a city's Recreational Department or the Sierra Club and the events and destinations they manage.

The lists are arranged by areas, such as South County, as well as by cities. As you scan down a list, you may encounter categories which are really cross-indexed lists. 'Preschool', for example, is a list of events and locations (for an area) particularly suited for preschool kids.

To begin, go to the main map or list for Orange County.

Either way, you can select the geographical area of interest to you, including the entire county. Then you can choose to see categories of recreational activity by the county section or by the cities. For the more common recreational activities, we suggest starting with your own city so you can find what you want without driving far. If the recreational activity is not listed, then look in a county section or even the entire county.

Except for the more uncommon categories of recreational activity, we suggest you not choose the entire county or you may get too many choices to be of much use. If you pick 'Dance' for the entire county, you'll get a huge list. Try 'Ballroom Dancing' instead if that is what you want. If any kind of dancing interests you, then choose 'Dance', but first choose a city near you.

You can also choose to begin by looking at the list of organizations with events or destinations listed on the Good Time Net. This is a good approach if you are a member of an organization and want to see what they have going.

You can also see an alphabetical list of all the recreational destinations in Orange County. Use this if you know the name of the destination and wish to see our info about that destination. If you're not sure about the name and don't want to go through our thousands of destinations, go to the main map or list, narrow your search to a city or county section, pick beaches, museum, park, etc. as appropriate, and scan down through the list.

Tip: Want to find out what is going on at a Senior Center, park, museum, etc. near you? Find that destination using any of the above approaches and check the events scheduled at that destination.
