You probably already have a bookmark to our home page set in your browser. If you find a list by area or city, or by a category of recreational activity that really interests you, don't forget to add that as a separate bookmark in your browser. If you are a member of a club or organization, you may wish to bookmark their event calendar. Then you have a quick way to check what's happening in sections of the Good Time Net that interest to you.
We promise not to change such web page names unless absolutely necessary so you're bookmarks will always work.
Because we understand many of our users (particularly you students) do not have the fastest, most expensive internet connection, we will not slow you down with cute clipart and other fancy graphics that are more to impress you than to show you a good time. You can read why we don't have a graphics version and never will.
You may wish to turn off graphics entirely by default; with Netscape, go to Options and make sure Auto Load Images is not checked. When you see a map or photo you like, check its caption and size (KB) to determine if you really want to see it, and then load only that image - with Netscape, right-click your mouse on the image and choose the Load this Image option.
We use keywords to help you find what you're looking for. If you can't find a keyword on a list, there could be several reasons.
If you are looking at a list for a city, it could be that the community you're checking has nothing with that keyword. If so, check a nearby city, a section of the county, or even the entire county.
Also, take a look at the list below to see if we call it something else.
If you still can't find it, suggest it to us
The Good Time Net has special crossindexes for kids, since they are often particularly in need of a good time. If you have kids (or are a kid), check out the following categories:
You'll find these categories mixed in alphabetically with all the other categories from aerobics to zoos. If an event is for kids spans more than one age bracket, it'll be listed in the oldest bracket. For example, a class for 10 to 18 year-olds will be listed as Youth/Teen even though it includes Children. Events and classes listed in the above age categories are put on just for kids, but most of the other events accept kids, too. If the age range is 16 to adult, for example, you won't find it under Youth/Teen since it isn't just for Youth/Teen . Check the event description for age ranges.
Are you sitting at home alone because those thankless grand kids won't ever come over? We think you should spend some of their inheritance on a good time. Go to a city (or county section), and down the list until you see 'Seniors'. That will give you a list of activities particularly designed for seniors (often by being really cheap or free). Remember that most of the other events listed also welcome seniors. Check out their descriptions.
If you are looking to get involved with recreation in your community as part of your retirement, check out our volunteer program.
Are you having problems reading small letters? You can set your browser to larger letters. In Netscape, go to the 'Options' menu, choose 'Preferences', choose 'Fonts', click on the 'Choose Font' button, and pick a size to suit your eyes. Computers are good for something after all!
New in town? Suddenly alone after a breakup? We don't have a special category for 'singles'. We have something better than bars, meat markets, and lonely hearts clubs. Our advice is simple but we know it works - find a recreational activity you like, and go alone! You'll often find yourself joining the club that put on the event, or at least making friends with fun people you would never meet otherwise. The low stress atmosphere brings out the quality people, and the worst that can happen is you'll have a good time.
If you're looking to build a web page for yourself or for your organization, that is what we do when we're not working on the Good Time Net. Take a look at our BusinessWare home page, particularly if you need your inhouse database connected to a website. If you are involved with a recreational organization, take a look at the text of a speech we gave, How Membership Groups on a Shoestring Can Make Use of the Internet, or our various offers to help such organizations, including to produce and host your websites for free.
