This trail commences at kiosk located adjacent to the intersection of West Group area. From trail head, Coyote Canyon Trail follows gentle slope of coastal sage scrub north to Coyote Canyon, turns west through oak groves paralleling paved road to the Upper West Group Area. It then terminates near an unnamed trail which continues for 1 mile to intersect with the Live Oak Trail.
