The trail offers a great deal of variety for a short wilderness hike. Five minutes from the trailhead is an oak woodland that grows along Morrell CanyonCreek. Along the banks large boulders and grassy areas shaded by large old oak trees provide ideal spots for wildlife watching, sitting, daydreaming and picnicking. The climb from the creek to a low ridge provides vistas of thewilderness towards Sitton Peak and Stewart Ranch (a large private ranch).
