

Discover the world of big boat sailing aboard 64' Frers' design, Volcano. Designed for sailors who hve attained intermediate skills on smaller boats, these weekend trips serve as a great introduction to the cruising experience.After reviewing gear and safety procedures, you'll get underway for the 30-mile sail to Catalina. Saturday afternoon will be spent sailing across the San Pedro Channel with crewmembers rotating steering, navigation, sail handling, and log keeping. A USCG licensed skipper and first mate will provide leadership and instruction on board.After arriving in Catalina, a sheltered cove will be selected and crewmembers will anchor their vessel for the night. An inflatable tender will take crew ashore for a hike before dinner. Sunday morning will be spent cruising Catalina's coast before heading home to Newport.One of OCC's most popular sail training vessels, "Volcano" is fast and comfortable. She has four staterooms, two heads, and two showers. A recommended gear/clothing list will be sent upon registration. Boarding time is 9am Saturday, and you'll disembard Sunday at 5pm.Bring a lunch for Saturday!*Please Note: $100 of the fee for all overnight trips is non-refundable in the event of participant cancellation or transfer. The entire fee is refundable in the event of trip cancellation.
