

This intensive six week course will give you a good understanding of rigging and sails, the forces generated and related problems/solutions. Repair, self-sufficiency and preventative maintenance will be emphasized. You will learn how to talk with professional sailmakers/riggers to get the end product you want. Skills such as sail repair and splicing will be taught. You wil get an understanding of how loads are distributed on boats and how sails and materials affect them. A trip up a mast in a bosun's chair will enable you to learn how to examine your own boat's rigging. The focus of this class is on aiding the cruiser who wishes to be self-sufficient and those who want to get the most out of sails and rigging work being done for them.6 weeks.
