The Newport Dory Fishing Fleet returns around 9:30AM on the north side of the pier to sell catch on the beach. Full-service restaurant on pier. Tackle shops and the Cannery Village shopping area are nearby. A paved path called the Boardwalk runs along beach from 36th St. to F Street. West Newport Park, a grassy Strip one block inland from the beach between Seashore Dr. and Pacific Coast Hwy., stretches from Olive St. south to 56th Street. Facilities include wheelchair-accessible restrooms, outdoor shower, picnic tables, playground, and tennis and racquetball courts; metered parking. Newport Harbor Elementary School, between 13th and 14th streets, has a playground directly on the beach.
