Rendezvous Ballroom Site

Built here in 1928, the rendezvous Ballroom is designated County Historical site #34 by a marker nearby. For 38 years, big band to rock 'n roll dance music blared from this block-long structure until it was destroyed by fire in 1966. A traditional center of activity for the young, the ballroom was an especially popular meeting place each year during the week preceding Easter, known locally as 'Bal Week.'
