A marker on the southwest corner of the plaza, near Glassell St., shows where the first building in Orange was erected in 1871. It was agent Glassell's home and tract office, and he maintained two seedling orange trees in front of his office to attract settlers to his townsite. The site is Orange CountyHistorical Commission site #18.
