Montanez Adobe

This adobe, dating to 1794, is on the National Register of Historic Places. Dona Polonia Montanez, the owner in 1875, had charge of the religious instruction of the village children between 1886 and 1910 when Mission San Juan Capistrano was without a resident priest. Dona Polonia, nicknamed the 'pied piper of San Juan,' was always surrounded by children.
